Eugenics doesn't mean he was a murderer but I see evidence he was an eugenicist. Seems this was an evolving theory in the 1920's and 30's.

What do think his point was of having children with four different women? Two of whom were sisters?

Michael, could you help me remember, somewhere in one of the books or maybe years ago on the board that there was some connection between Frances Smith and Dwight Morrow Jr. Is that right? Anyway the article about her was fascinating...thanks!

Why did the FBI want to question Fleisher regarding TLK?

Maybe before the final stages of TB? I don't think it's Fisch, just looks similar.

I've always thought it interesting that the upper story windows had a different type of shutters than the lower windows. Maybe the slats were to let in air when the windows were open and the shutters closed.

Some people thought Hauptmann was innocent even after the trial. Reporters and LE included were skeptical the night of the kidnapping. Could have been some like that without specific knowledge of the crime but just doubtful. Still that little verse is intriguing.

It would have had to have been someone who had hands on access to the at least one of the notes. Wonder if the handwriting was ever compared to the letter Hoffman received after Hauptmann's conviction or even the ransome notes. Also if the message could have in someway been dated. Surely no one would bother in 1948...sort of old news by then.

I believe I read that somewhere - at least the lines underground through the yard.
How vulnerable the lines would have been entering the house is unknown - were they encased in conduit or just insulation at the junction with the house?
I don't know what 1930's code required or what a house of that caliber may have called for... how far away was the nearest telephone pole? It would've been easier and less obvious if you could cut their line farther away. I wonder how much attention CAL would have given to the codes or who would have questioned his orders at the time.

Weren't the phone lines encased in metal while the house was being built?

Don't know why the table should be ruled out. Mark F. Thought the holes match precisely with the ransom notes.

I think a kidnapping planned by CAL would have allowed the baby either treated or euthanized and Anne would never have known.

I wasn't suggesting he killed his son because he was speculating there was something wrong only that I don't believe for a minute if CAL would release info about any sort of degenerative disease. God Lord, the Morrow family didn't turn out to be what I'm sure he thought they were. You're a RN I'm assuming. Have you looked at any differential diagnoses? Rickets can be caused by conditions not related to Vitamin D deficiencies. You're right about children in the 1920's. I thought your post was very well thought out presented so well I just don't agree. As a nurse, what would you worry about if you were treating a pt. 7 months pregnant and carried off a plane and hospitalized after a 14 hour high altitude flight? Every nurse I've asked has, at the least looked horrified. Before I was licensed I worked as a MSW In a medical center and covered NICU as well as postpartum units. Completed half of a 3 yr nursing program so I was interested in the medical aspects of pt.care not just psychosocial aspects. Lots of nurses in my family ( mom, daughter and 7 aunts). You have my respect.

Maybe he was dropped on his head "ceiling flying" the physical defects don't appear to be serious to me either but developmental defects don't often show up until later. Anne's diaries weren't published until many years After the crime and I'm sure we're edited. I'm a retired licensed therapist (LCSW) and believe me this man had many more issues other than lack of social charm.. I think a lot of his characteristics have been projected onto BRH.

I've often wondered why Lindbergh took Anne on that cross country trip when she was 7 months pregnant. Nor can I imagine leaving a one year old with someone I'd only know for a few months. Just don't see the bonding at all. Also, your personality is what it is when you reach the age CAL was at the time of this birth. The effects of his parent's lack of nurturing, emotionally, definely in my mind had very much to do with his personality.. The "practical" jokes he played were more than boorish and immature but actually rather cruel and dangerous in many instances. I see personality traits that at least border on personality disorders.

He didn't just grab a piece. It would have been planed after being sawed. Why all that work when there were lumber yards close? I don't think he made that ladder; he was a carpenter. If he had broken the rung he could have seriously injured himself and been unable to escape. He knew how to build and knew the weight of a baby because he had a little boy. Also the ladder is the one thing that debunks ( in my mind) the theory that Lindbergh planned the kidnapping. I think there was a ladder outside the house that could have been conviently used. The ladder was almost a joke. Someone went to a lot of trouble to build a piece of junk. Baffles me.

I think the Lindbergh children removed the bone fragments because of DNA. After the shock of his European children, I'd be doubting anything he told me

True severity can't be determined until 3 to 4 yrs of age makes me think a child might look entirely normal but deficits show up as the baby gets older. I agree this looks a lot like prenatal anoxia. Good work!

Amy, look up Cleidocranial Dysplasia! I've cared for infants with acquired hydrocephalus and their little heads are enormous and so heavy they made my arm ache to hold them. Their little faces look tiny in comparison to the rest of the head. I think people were told rickets but he probably had some condition much more serious. I don't think anything would have been released concerning his health, even diet, if it hadn't been for the crime. What do you think?
