On January 30th 1936 Schwartzkopf received a letter and brief from Hoffman containing 19 seemingly unanswered questions: (Waller/Kidnap/pp534-535):
1. Who was the second person in Condons phone conversation with CJ who asked "Does he write news articles for BHN"?
2. Who is the Italian man in the same phone conversation who says "Statto cit"? (maybe Peter Biratella?)
3. Who is the Italian woman who wants to meet Condon at the Tuckahoe train station? (maybe Mary Ceritta?)
*4. Why hadn"t the NJSP questioned Condon about the $250,000 bribe he said he had been offered? Since BRH was in prison and couldn't have made the offer....who was the alleged accomplice?
Michael...can you enlighten us on #4-- I never heard it before?

I know this is in one of the books but I haven't been able to find the reference. I believe the source would be Condon's appearance in Lynn Mass in which he "chatted" with Reporters. One such Reporter was Arthur Peabody and he was contacted by the Governor's office to find out exactly what Condon said. Peabody sent this reply via Western Union on 1-6-36: John f "JAFSIE" Condon appeared Lynn Friday December thirteenth open week engagement capitol theatre talked with him friday noon he said he offered quarter million dollars to change testimony and place blame Isadore Fisch instead Hauptman asked how offer made he said telephone and personal asked what he did he said nothing not interested he american gave testimony and it stand scoffed suggestion Hauptman wrong man willing meet Hauptman Ln claims innocence ready investigate details challenged doubt greatly Gov. Hoffman intercede asked if Hauptman guilty say I watch Judge and Jury follow case heard Jury say guilty I follow twelve Apostles of my heart and no doubt guilty my testimony stands asked if one man job he say nothing done that one brain possessed with lust and greed for money could not plan and carry out asked about Parker investigation he say Parker talk so mushy it go flip flop when land I defy him and challenge him to find one scrap of my testimony that can be repudiated
my paper tell me see Jafsie saturday noon regarding report that athlete made offer of quarter million talk with him at Hotel Edison he say Athlete make offer refused details finally got following story from him quote I approached in New York by man who offer quarter million to blame Fisch instead of Hauptman several offer before that this man say he had prominent part in hockey game in NewYork a couple of days previous and I at game did not know him or remember ever having seen him before he assured me money be paid in cash end quote
asked what he did about it he said nothing as he no t interested asked if he attend hockey games he say he attend many in Madison Square Garden and other places very fond of game but did not remember ever seeing man who made offer Condon told of quarter million offer to Daniel Moriarty Lynn item Miss Mildred Reichert of Lynn telegram news Henry Payne of Lynn Telegram News and Albert Pasby of Boston Post. An article written in Newton Mass on 12-13 quoted Condon as saying: I have been approached several times with offers of sums-- really great sums-- if I would go to the Authorities to have Hauptmann taken off that death sentence. One man, in fact, appraoched me, and afterwards the offers ranged from $10,000 to $250,000.

Isn't that copyright infringement? What gives her the right to copy and sell those things?

I am by no means an expert on copyright laws but I think unless its re-filed after a certain amount of years then its up. Additionally, I think only the copyright holder has grounds to complain so if they acquiesce then there should be no issue.
Anyway, I plead ignorance because I don't know the specifics - best to email her with any concerns.
