Took a ride down to New Jersey this week to see some of the LKC related sites. A kind gentleman from the board of elections of Flemington brought us into the courtroom and showed us around. He also showed us the jail area where Bruno was held. He mentioned that some ghost hunters were coming down to investigate hauntings at the Union Hotel. We then went on to the Lindbergh Estate. As you know, it is now a correctional facility of sorts. The supt. was very gracious and assigned us an employee to show us around both inside and out. After seeing the nursery,I think it would be hard to get in and out of that window on a ladder by yourself. Lastly we stopped at the N.J. State Police Museum and checked out the LKC exhibit there. The electric chair is currently on loan to another museum so they are showing a facsimile Over all it was a great day. Now........On to the Bronx. I've tried to attach a photo of the nursery. Don't know if I was successful though. Attachments:

The picture turned out great and thank you for sharing it! Feel free to post more if you'd like (I know that I would enjoy them).
Sounds like you had a great day. It's hard to appreciate things as they were (then) unless you drive around and take a look-see. Imagine being from the Bronx and motoring down to Hopewell in 1932!

Here is the original fireplace in the nursery. The tiles were brought over from Hollland. It is a shame they can't talk Attachments:

I've been lurking here for many years and have wanted to join for a long time. Not to post anything - you people are far more knowledgeable than I am. I wanted to read all the documents that Michael posts. But the photos in this thread were so fantastic I just had to see them. I'm glad I did. Thank you so much chanteyman2!

Thanks for signing up Kae. Please do post your ideas, thoughts, and observations. No one knows everything, believe me, and getting to the truth takes a collective effort.
And I agree with you about chanteyman's pictures. It's the next best thing to being there yourself!

Thanks Michael. One of the things that surprised me was the height of the window sill in the nursery. It's much lower than I've always imagined it. Even after seeing photos from the time of the kidnapping. Maybe familiar objects like those computers in the room gave me better a sense of scale. Those are iMac G5's. I had the exact same computer about 3-4 years ago. It was kinda nice to see them there and know that the room is being put to good use.

I think that's an important observation when considering the stein was on the sill and the suitcase and toy were in front of it. I have a photo with the stein there and suitcase but none with the toy leading many to believe it didn't exist. Even without it we have major obsticles in conjuction with everything else to try to explains. The whys and hows just keep piling up.

Amazing photos. Although it's my dream, I will probably never get there (I live in Washington State) so I really appreciate these close up clear pics. Hope you dont mind I saved them just to look at. Thanks, Chaneteyman.
