One thing that really puzzles me moreso than anything else...where are the emotions and grief from Ann and Charles? I don't care how disappointed CAL, or anyone else would be in me, for showing grief, I would not be able to compose myself if I was in fear for my child's life. A mother's love for a child is far beyond any other emotion, it is instinctive to protect and mourn over the loss of a child.
Ann had been taken away from the baby shortly after birth, another action normal mother's would be unable to do...this messed up the bonding period, and possibly could be the reason for the unemotional responses.
Unnatural actions
1. CAL never goes into the crib to see his son when he returns home, even though he is sleeping...how many times do parents watch a sleeping child and admire them in their dreams. He had not seen the baby since Sunday
2. Ann seemed jealous of the relationship between Betty and Charley but still played the role of Helper instead of Mother...Betty sewed the shirt, rubbed the vics in, Betty or Elsie woke him, dressed him, fed him, and bathed him.
3. Ann wanted the baby to herself on weekends to bond with the baby. It seems Elsie then did the mothering roles.
4. Ann did not act like she suspected Charles took the baby as a prank, Betty says she looked bewildered. No emotion
5. It seems that the baby stayed in his small nursery more than in the living quarters of the house. His potty chair is in the nursery. His meals are given in the nursery. Betty and Elsie both mention that they have to wake the baby regularly, and also go through medicine routines, bathing, feeding, and then back to bed.
Do these things seem normal to you all?
I believe there was a cover up that night. I also believe that the only way a mother would go along with it is if she felt the disappearance was for Charley's own benefit and safety. Maybe she feared Charles was capable of harming his own son if he was defected...Ann either feels the need to protect him, or she knows nothing of the crime. (But if she didn't know anything, how could she be so composed.
Another idea:
Ann interrupted an interview with Call to ask if she should call their mothers...an officer heard her say to her mother that "our baby has been kidnapped" was this letting Mrs. Morrow know secretly that the plan is now in action???
Just thinking outside the box a little...
