I am new here. A google search for the name Winslow Humphreys produced a hit for a posting January 27, 2010 referring to an invesigator with this name. I could not locate the info, however.
My interest has nothing to do with the Lindbergh case, really. I am researching a firearms article and located an editorial piece in Hunting and Fishing Magazine, November 1945, by one Lt. Winslow Humphreys, at the time a Coast Guard security officer in Manhattan.
Considering that the name is not a common one, I am wondering if this Lt. Humphreys was an investigator in private life before the War. Any help is greatly appreciated and shall be cited accordingly.

If this is the guy you're looking for, and need some more information, just let me know and I will see what else I can dig up for you. I do have a file on him which begins during the NJSP Investigation where he is sending them information he develops out of Elizabeth, N.J.. Later, once Gov. Hoffman re-opens the Case he assists here too.

Anytime John, and glad to help. I wanted to post something else I found because I think it will give you another avenue to search.... In a letter to Gov. Hoffman dated 1-26-36, Humphrey writes the following: At the United States Naval Officers Training School we were taught that we must always attack our opponent at his weaker, and least strategic, points.
