For those who have already read V4, I've got some follow-up information for Chapter 10: "False Prophets"
I always wanted to address Edgar Cayce's brush with this case since those who read Theon Wright's book seemed to find the subject interesting. As you can see with the Lightfoot angle, Cayce took something in the news and ran with it. For me there can be no doubt that he used the same tactic during his original psychic readings. Prior to his first session with Lanphier, a man by the name of "Tony Meslo" was picked up in New Haven, Conn, for "idleness" on March 7. This was done because he was supposedly overheard by someone saying something incriminating about the kidnapping (BTW: There are thousands of similar letters at the NJSP Archives naming just as many different people having been overheard saying something similar). There can be no doubt, for me at least, that Cayce caught wind of this arrest via the newspapers, then used it to "see" a man by the name of "Meglo" and "Megleo" during his original sessions. Meslo was later released by police on either March 9 or 10. As we see from Cayce's 4th reading he then claims "Menslo" was not involved but may be able to help lead them to the actual perpetrators.

Legitimate psychic will often tell you that they are not allowed to interfere. He surely picked up the thought vibrations that were going around at the time. He always qualified his so-called predictions with “unless the divine interfere.”
