Sure they were trying to reach as many people as possible and some communities did not speak English. Who arranged that photo with all the foods present? Police? If so, you might think it would turn off the purported kidnappers, because the ransom note warned against the Llndbergh people notifying the police. Why the German? They were probably following through on the ransom note there, thinking that the spelling and syntax was consistent with a writer whose native language was German.

If i had to guess I'd say an American newspaper put together that visual.
The German language labels were probably applied for a paper with a German language circulation?
Curious if there were other targeted appeals (e.g. Italian, Polish, etc.) given CALs popularity?
