"This is a mystery/fantasy with political overtones wherin the facts of the Lindbergh baby kidnapping were transposed to Germany."
Reynolds, Peter (Amelia Reynolds Long) BEHIND THE EVIDENCE
Visionary Publishing Co, Everett, PA 1936 - Printed and bound at the time as THE SHADOW OVER INNSMOUTH by Lovecraft, the correct binding of this book could be its twin, with the same typography, black cloth binding and silver title stamping. However, this copy has an even closer relationship - the pages were mistakenly bound by the eccentric Crawford in the Lovecraft covers ! According to Chalker & Owings, from publisher William Crawford as source, only 100 copies were printed, and of them only 37 were correctly hardbound. Of these, approximately 15 were sold with the remainder being taken by the author. Only around 7 copies are known in dust wrapper, one each from the collections of the author and of the jacket artist, Clay Ferguson, the rest in the hands of private collectors. A near FINE or better copy, given the amatuer hand-binding process in a color photo-reproduction dust wrapper. This is a mystery/fantasy with political overtones wherin the facts of the Lindbergh baby kidnapping were transposed to Germany. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
