Electricity wizard, Nikola Tesla, who died in 1943, is all over the news lately. Tesla developed the alternating current system of electricity, and he is the one responsible for lighting up the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. Tesla is described in books as well-educated and polished. Patents were stolen from him. Tesla worked for Thomas Edison who was a bastard towards him. He died a penniless recluse, spending his last days feeding pigeons in front of the New York Public Library. But perhaps now he'll get the recognition he has always deserved thanks to a Web cartoonist, a retired librarian, and a whole host of Tesla fans worldwide who have made financial contributions to save Wardenclyffe. Wardenclyffe is Tesla's abandoned lab located in Shoreham, Long Island. Web contributions have saved the lab and tower from falling into the hands of developers. (The lab was designed by famous architect, Standford White.) Way ahead of his time, Tesla wanted a place where he could send messages and pictures wirelessly. He also wanted FREE electrical power for every one in the world. Tesla had a good heart and no business sense. And we all know what that gets you in this world. www.newsday.com/opinion/viewsday-1.3683911/nikola-tesla-gets-some-of-the-recognition-he-deserves-thanks-to-the-oatmeal-s-internet-campaign-1.3925744
