Middlesex County probation officer helps keep legendary murder case alive By MICHAEL DEAK • Staff Writer • May 1, 2009 The Hall-Mills murder case remains unsolved since the bodies of the Rev. Edward Hall, the 41-year-old rector of Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in New Brunswick, and Eleanor Reinhardt Mills, 34, a member of the church choir, were found shot to death near De Russey Lane in Franklin on Sept. 16, 1922.
It's hard to imagine nearly 87 years later that De Russey Lane — which was roughly in the same location as busy four-lane Franklin Boulevard — was once a popular lover's lane because of its deserted, rural character.
