New Jersey State Police Blue and Gold Spotlight
In this edition of the Blue and Gold Spotlight, we highlight the career of Mark Falzini, who will be retiring later this year after serving New Jersey for 35 years.
After graduating high school, Mark began his career with the State Police in 1986 as a clerk in the Payroll Unit. In January of 1992, he began his assignment as the archivist at the State Police Museum and Learning Center. While working with the State Police, he obtained a degree in history from The College of New Jersey in 1991 and a Master of Library Service from Rutgers University in 1994. He recently obtained a degree in Professional Pastry Arts from the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts and plans on pursuing his passion of French cooking and pastry after retirement.
Over the last 29 years, Mark has distinguished himself as the foremost expert on the Division’s storied 100-year history. He is an accomplished author of multiple books, blogs, and journal articles. Mark’s contributions to the New Jersey State Police Museum and Learning Center have made it a top location for school field trips, where students from throughout New Jersey and the tri-state area come to learn about our history through many of the informative displays he has helped curate.
At the museum, he also oversees a collection of over a quarter of a million documents related to the infamous Lindbergh kidnapping and is recognized internationally as one of the foremost experts on the case and the trial of Bruno Richard Hauptmann. Numerous authors and other museums wishing to establish exhibits pertaining to the kidnapping and trial have consulted with Mark on his expertise. He has been featured in dozens of books, articles, and television documentaries nationally and internationally. Mark is also a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and he was a previous member of the Ulster Scottish/Thomas I. Hall Memorial Pipe Band.
Please join us in thanking Mark for his hard work, dedication, and professionalism. His service is a credit to the Division. We are fortunate that he has been part of our State Police family for the last 35 years.
