Do you think that the Laura Lou Brookman article from 1930 was responsible for getting the Lindbergh baby kidnapped?
Brookman's article is filled with so much personal information about the Lindberghs', including the Princeton house location and their plans to build at Hopewell.
It's no wonder the kidnapping happened!
The article with accompanying aerial photo of the house and grounds was front page news for November 21, 1930 in the Morning Herald from Gloversville and Johnstown, New York.
Though the Morning Herald picture is clearer, page 8 from the Pensacola Journal from December 1, 1930 is the same article and picture, and is able to peruse.
The name of Brookman's article is "How Lindberghs Live in Rented Home While Waiting to Build Their Own."
So much information about the Lindberghs was revealed by Brookman that it is almost as if she was giving an open invitation to the kidnapper to easily steal the baby!

The Brookman article would have been too early to assist any 1932 kidnap plot. Hardly any specific details, other than general location, of the prospective Highfields project were given, because construction on Highfields had not yet begun.
However, IIRC, there were some later newspaper articles which appeared when Highfields was already under construction, and which could have given potential kidnappers more useful information to accomplish their sinister plot.

Ilovedfw:
That is so interesting that you spent part of your childhood on Rosedale Road! I believe you have posted in the past about your connection with this area of New Jersey. It has been said that the Princeton farmhouse is actually located "outside" of the town of Princeton.
Did you know any of the Terhunes, Northrups, or Van Horns? Did your father like working on White Cloud Farm?
There was a lot of newspaper coverage of the Lindberghs before they began spending weekends in their new home in East Amwell.
It is evident to me that a lot of information about the Lindberghs was being brought to the attention of the public when they were living in the rented farmhouse. The picture of the baby's crib in the backyard was a major invasion of their privacy. In addition, there were many pictures of the Hopewell house under various stages of construction that were published in newspapers throughout the country.
The Pensacola Journal article says that cars were lined up to see what was going on with the Lindberghs at their rented home. People in cars from New York, Pennsylvania, and Kansas were among the curiosity-seekers. Interestingly, there were more drivers with out-of-state licence plates than cars with New Jersey plates.

Hi Ilovedfw,
Rosedale Road and Cold Soil Road, but I think there were a few more names for that one road!
The area is very pretty, and still very rural. Seems like an idyllic place for kids to grow up in! Good choice!

I've read about the house Lindberghs rented several times. What was the time period that they rented? What were the dates they actually lived there? Why were they staying with Annes mother at the time of the kidnapping instead of the rental home?

I've read about the house Lindberghs rented several times. What was the time period that they rented? What were the dates they actually lived there? Why were they staying with Annes mother at the time of the kidnapping instead of the rental home? The lease for the Van Horn property (Mount Rose) was signed on October 10, 1930. It was not made out in the Lindberghs name but the Realtor's instead.
