Wanted to post that I recently communicated with Mark and he still doesn't know when the Museum will be opening. The other issue might be that even once that does, there could be a different plan when to reopen the Archives to researchers. As I learn new information I will be sure to keep everyone updated here. Another thing Mark shared with me was that the (now defunct) Newseum returned the items that were on loan to them from the NJSP. This consisted of several paper items such as a Trial Pass, Teletypes, Posters, and most importantly the Shellac Can (S-181). Pictured below to show its now back where it belongs both safe and sound (thanks Mark): imgur.com/gaY9AcfAdditionally, a three part ladder the Newseum created for their exhibit was also donated to the NJSP Museum so that's pretty cool too. Newseum's webpage is still up here (for now): www.newseum.org/

The State Police has switched over to a new email server and Mark Falzini has a new email address:
Note the . between his first and last name. Mark thinks the old email still works and gets forwarded to this one, but he's not sure for how much longer so researchers are encouraged to update their address books.

Museum update:
I called the NJSP Museum today and asked if it was possible to visit the Museum and take a look at a few Lindbergh related documents.
I was told that the Museum remains closed for 2 reasons:
1) There is major construction going on in front of the Museum and
2) The NJSP have not yet hired a "historian" to replace Mark Falzini.
I was told to check back with them next year for an update!
FYI, the NJSP Museum's phone number is: 609-882-2000, ext. 6401.

Michael, have you been looking for that great retirement gig? Actually, I need to hire one for my archive! All kidding aside, I hope they hire one of the many people who interned there over the years. The interns will already be familiar, know the case, and have worked with Mark to see how he did things and can attempt to follow in his footsteps. If not, they might be getting a true Historian but one who will need a couple of years to figure out the files. I suspect their learning curve will look less like an arc and more like a capital "S."
