Nice find denadenise! Condon did make a recording of how CJ spoke. Defense Attorney Ed Reilly did bring up this recording at Hauptmann's trial and wanted the prosecution to make this recording available. I wonder if this might be such a recording or a copy of it or just something else entirely.

Wow.. that is a great find Dena, and this appears to be a copy of the original Jafsie Condon recording of his impersonation of Cemetery John. I've never seen one of these available and I couldn't see this one on eBay as having been previously sold. It would be great if the purchaser would agree to put it on Youtube.

To my eyes, the name on the envelope looks like it reads "Jacksen" and the writing on the record itself "Jaffe" even in the close up...
I wonder if the caution to "use special home recording needles only" implies that the recording would sound distorted if played on a modern home stereo system?

Truly. Wolfman, and thanks for posting this. One might need to acquire an old Victrola to play this record properly. Whoever purchases the record should be contacted by someone LKC involved so as to ask them to arrange for a digital transfer of some kind. This is a valuable historical document, not a mere curio. Can Worthpoint be contacted regarding this?
