Hurried through V2, thank you for a great book and lots of things to think about, Michael.
Just a thought... What about possibility that "Gus Liskis" mentioned on p. 287 (Ransom Box letter) is the same person or connected with Gus(tave) Lukatis/Lukatus from pp. 602–609? Misspelled or misread some way...

What about possibility that "Gus Liskis" mentioned on p. 287 (Ransom Box letter) is the same person or connected with Gus(tave) Lukatis/Lukatus from pp. 602–609? Misspelled or misread some way... That's a unique observation you've made and one I've never considered. They certainly sound the same right? I wish I could add to your theory in some way but what I wrote about Lukatis was all of the important stuff I could find. I couldn't believe there was a picture so I had to include it. But there's nothing else at the NJSP Archives about him. I am willing to bet that there is more on this subject in the Fawcett papers but they are privately owned and last sight of them was on Ebay about 16 years ago. I had the man's email at one time and that's when I offered money for copies but he never got back to me. I really believe there's some good information we could all learn from in that collection.

Found this on Lukatis some time ago - unfortunately - the 'rest of the story' - which would include the two names - ? Attachments:

Found this on Lukatis some time ago - unfortunately - the 'rest of the story' - which would include the two names - ? Everything of value that I have on Lukatis is in V2 on pages 602-09. The names are likely there. My only reservation is that I've never seen the Fawcett material. Since Kress was working for Fawcett, I'm willing to bet there are reports among that stuff which mention Lukatis - so there's probably more to be learned. I know I've mentioned this before but I can't remember "when" so I'll repeat it... Fawcett's collection was on Ebay back in 2001 or 2002. Whoever owned it was trying to sell it report by report. And I seem to remember that the reserve was set at $25. Nothing was ever purchased because none of the bids met the reserve. So I contacted the seller asking to purchase xerox copies and they said they would consider it and get back to me. They never did. A couple of years later I "think" I tried again but it was either unanswered or bounced. I say "think" because I never usually send an unanswered email twice but in this case I do believe I did. Where ever this collection is now is anyone's guess. Note: Looks like I mentioned it above in my reply to Ziki! So it was up for auction in the 2001 to 2003 range. Joe or Steve might remember exactly when. I think they were both watching that auction at the time as well.
