Hi George Since it seems there are so many opinions on what "conclusively" means , you can decide for yourself. Pros; - Rail 16 was cut (ripped) down from a tongue and groove board which is what is on the attic floor
- Rail 16 is the same wood species (southern yellow pine) as S-226 ( the partial floorboard in the attic)
- Rail 16 has grain and figure which matches at it end to that of the end of S -226
- Rail 16 has the same machine planer marks as S-226
- The nail holes in rail 16 align perfectly ( angle and location) with those in the attic floor joists.
- That spacing of the nails is not common due to the joists overlapping in the attic.
- The nail type and size are correct for the match to the attic floor
Cons; - Color cannot be matched due to the staining of the rail for fingerprints
- Rail 16 has over an inch missing do to "squaring it up" which leaves a gap between the rail and S-226.
- Rail 16 was ripped down to it's 3 5/8" width, so there is missing wood making a complete match impossible
- Rail 16 shows no evidence of being in an attic other than it's relative moisture content indicated it had been protected from the weather.

thanks for that info. so how can the "lindy did it" faction reconcile this evidence? maybe anne was having an illicit affair with brh? she knew she would lose custody of caljr when she left cal for brh and thus hatched the kidnap plan. should seem reasonable.
