i recently got a copy of Loss of Eden for my very own, have borrowed it before from the library. my question is this; in the photo section one of the photos of Charlie is captioned as having been taken in February, just weeks before he is kidnapped. I thought there were no very recent pictures of him, that was one of the weird things attributed to how the worlds most famous man treated his first-born. however, i am also a wee bit skeptical of the author since she also refers to Cemetery John as "Graveyard John" throughout the book. which makes me think she didn't research the case very fully despite quite a chunk of Loss of Eden is devoted to the event. btw the photo of Charlie is the one in profile where he is looking down. i gotta say he seems to have a huge head from the brow bone upwards. but since i have never raised children (only cats i am not sure if this is normal.

This is one of the pictures taken during his 1st Birthday. Some captions say it was a "recent" picture which may have led to her believe it actually was. however, i am also a wee bit skeptical of the author since she also refers to Cemetery John as "Graveyard John" throughout the book. which makes me think she didn't research the case very fully despite quite a chunk of Loss of Eden is devoted to the event. Some of the Newspaper Reporters at the time were referring to "Cemetery John" as "Graveyard John." There are even a couple of Reports that does this as well (although not many). So she's not technically wrong because there are a few sources for this.

Hello...xjd...If the photo you are talking about is one of the 1rst Birthday Series, ..Those photos were taken on Charlie Jr's first Birthday in June 1931. I will post the other birthday photo on my thread tomorrow and I believe that I have a photo where Charlie Jr. is a little older. PLEASE NOTE: All photos of Charlie Jr. have been altered with a grease pencil for publication purposes. This altered the toddler's eyebrows, eyes, mouth and chin in any photo that I have examined. This also distorted an accurate search for finding the kidnapped baby as well. Also PLEASE NOTE: Cats or not, you are correct in the size of the head, although the downward angle gives it a larger appearance. Compare any photo of Charlie Jr., (as well as the nose and location of the nose) and you can see it is not the same baby as they found in the woods.

thanks for the info, aimee. that is why i was confused by the photo's caption in the book stating it was taken just "weeks" before the kidnapping. maybe author/editor/etc. got mixed up.
again, i think it's weird there were no more recent photos of Charlie to post around. i don't have any answers, just noting something hinky.
