Not a question for Michael or Joe or Kevin .
Does anybody know who the guy in the picture at the left is?
Just a fun question! Everyone likes to give the right answer once in awhile.

Good Gosh, Dave! Couldn't you have used Schwarzkopf for your avatar. Then we all could have been right about something at the same time!!!
How about a hint? Is this how the officer looked in 1932?

Hi Amy,
Clue. Was the last person to ever talk to Richard Hauptmann. Another. Replaced H. Norman.

Thank you Dave for the clues. Your avatar is Colonel Mark Kimberling. If you have time for one last question before your trip to Australia, did Kimberling believe that Hauptmann was guilty?
Have a safe trip and may your son's movie enjoy much success downunder!

Thank you Dave for the clues. Your avatar is Colonel Mark Kimberling. If you have time for one last question before your trip to Australia, did Kimberling believe that Hauptmann was guilty? Have a safe trip and may your son's movie enjoy much success downunder! I know this question was directed to Dave, but in his absence I thought I'd at least tell you that it's my belief he felt as Hoffman did. I am not sure if you were a Member yet when I posted this but once Kimberling took over, sometime close to this date Lewis was reinstated to the NJSP. Lewis then usually conducted investigations and those reports would then go directly back to the NJSP to Kimberling. Hoffman couldn't do that with Schwarzkopf at the helm. For example, some investigations start in the Hoffman Collection then the continuing Reports seem to either "not exist" or have disappeared. What I found was that some of those were now in the State Police Collection. So I literally had to combine Reports from two separate collections in order to put together a complete investigation. It's my opinion that Fisher got so much wrong because he didn't spend enough time researching to know this type of thing. So he'd make a claim, like the one concerning Hammond, that is completely untrue because he was only looking in some places.

Thanks Michael for your reply. I do not think I was posting to this board when you talked about Kimberling and Lewis and the reporting process. The need to take the necessary time to research thoroughly is certainly underscored by your example. You have dedicated so much of your life and time to doing just that. I can see Kimberling being in agreement with Hoffman that there is more to this crime than just Hauptmann.
I truly hope, Michael, that your book will provide the Paul Harvey moment that this case deserves.

Thanks Amy.
I've been working on it so long now that I am sure its a joke to those who know how long. Lord only knows when I'll get done. I've had to start over so many things.... Sooner or later (I hope).
