I wonder if this was the plane they were on. My dad was best friends with Igor Sikorsky's youngest son Niki as they were both Violin students growing up in Bridgeport together. They kept in regular touch until my dad passed away a couple of years ago. Great picture! I have never seen an airplane like that one. It really does look like a flying boat. I think you are correct that this is the type of plane used by Lindbergh to search for the Boad Nelly. In George Waller's book kidnap he says that Lindbergh used a Sikorsky amphibian plane for the search. Could that be a photo of the actual plane they were on? I don't know. It looks like it could be a newspaper photo. Did the website give you any information about who took the photo and when?

Thanks for those links!! I believe you are correct. Lindbergh did use one of the S-40's to search for his son. The Lordship History link is very interesting. I plan to take a more detailed look at that later. I did find the section where you took the picture from to post here. These are great finds, Stella!

I am rereading Noel Behn's book as there has been a lot of discussion recently about JJ Nosovitsky. When you are done reading, I hope you will post your thoughts on Behn's book and what he has to say about Noso and Elisabeth Morrow.
