Has anyone compared Lindbergh's handwriting to the ransom notes? It was not addressed in Dr. Gardner's book.

This is a great question that many people who research the case often ask. The book you read, Dr. Gardner's The Case That Never Dies is nothing short of brilliant. I have found everything he says about the handwriting in the source documentation so you can trust the information.
A point that I think which is quite obvious is Lindbergh was really running the investigation. One could surely draw this inference from the factual information contained within Dr. Gardner's book. However it is a point of debate which continues on and probably will for some time....
Anyway, with this in mind its pretty easy to see why no official comparison was done with Lindbergh's handwriting. I've seen comparisons made by Researchers which I cannot discuss because it isn't mine but I can say that I do not believe he wrote them.
I am 50/50 on Hauptmann as the man who penned them out and quite sure he wasn't the Author. You'll notice that any legitimate Expert who has studied this angle and not utilized the "requests" that Hauptmann made can not conclude he wrote them but yield to a lesser finding. It's a very complex issue that many try to glide over as if its black and white - but it surely isn't.
Of course you have someone with a "card" which says "expert" on it but they concluded Hauptmann wrote the notes after comparing pictures in Haring's book to xerox copies of xerox copies of the ransom notes.
At the very least this is both unacceptable and quite reckless.
Next you have people who like to yell "revisionist" every chance they get. It's called "buzz-word" tactics, that is - if you label something with an ugly adjective it usually turns people off from identifying with the position - thus risking the label being tacked onto their backs as well. These "people" usually go after anyone who produces evidence to show something wasn't quite right with the original story behind the kidnapping. They want that old tired story to remain forever despite the truth.
Yup - they're dinosaurs but a few are still alive and haven't died off yet. So they kick and scream and throw mud every chance they get. It's sad to read sometimes and hard for me to understand - especially when it comes to the person who is always crying "foul" when its perceived to have happened to him or one of his buddies. And I had high hopes for him..... Oh well.
The problem is that a "revisionist" is really someone who doesn't read something but tells someone else what's in it based upon their opinion about what should be in it.
A good example would be someone who hasn't read more then a handful of Turrou's reports. Next, they begin to think they are mind-readers and tell us what Turrou meant to say in his report as opposed to what he actually said. They become Berritella and then have the audacity to accuse Dr. Gardner and anyone else of "misunderstanding" what the sources/reports say.
Its despicable.
The bottom line is do as much research and read as much material as you can on the subject - then will be better able to draw your own conclusions. If someone tells you what to believe instead what their opinion is - then ask them what they are basing it on. Ask if they have actually read the reports instead of guessing what's in them. If, for example, they tell you "Turrou didn't mean that he meant this" then ask if they've read 100 or so of his reports and whether or not he did the same thing in those too....you may find out they didn't read but 1 or 2...or that Turrou usually wrote exactly what he meant.
Its a jungle out there - be careful. This is a fair-minded board where we openly discuss things based upon good faith with no ulterior motives. Hopefully you'll stick around and share your thoughts and questions with us. Additionally, my word is certainly not the last so maybe someone else has something on your question they would like to share as well....
