and eight more months would have passed from that 1st birthday photo on the right to when he was taken... How much more obvious would any cranial defects have been by that point? Attachments:

If the doctor didn't find any problem with the "bumps" examining them first hand, why should anyone else eighty years later from pictures?

Nothing really new here on this thread that we didn't know already, other than scathma's photo showing the frontal bony abnormalities more clearly than other photos previously seen and posted. No doubt Dr. Van Ingen and family members were already aware that Charlie had rickets, which is why he was prescribed cod liver oil (Viosterol) and heat lamp treatments. The "lumps" on Charlie's forehead were explicable simply by his rickets diagnosis. But what must have been exasperating to the doctors and the family was that the signs of rickets did not improve with the standard therapy given. That's because Charlie unfortunately likely had some type of Vitamin-D resistant rickets, which was not understood by medical science at the time, and for which no effective treatment was available.

Yes but a doctor is legally bound to not let sick individuals go running around. The doctor would have known that eventually Charlie's serious illness would be exposed - would he risk public censure for not treating it? I think the serious illness of Charlie L. is there only in the minds of chatters on this board. Those pictures of Charlie look perfectly normal unless you create a problem, which is what you are doing.

I don't know it all but I know some things - and I can see people trying to create problems to solve non-existent bizarre assumptions where no problems exist!
