Chapter 16: Wow, I never considered that as an escape route, but there is a spot on Crusher Rd (C) that you get a great view of the whole Hopewell Valley.

Feathers, thank you for sharing the Larry Rue articles. It undoubtedly took a lot of your time to do so.
Can anyone help please... I can only read the jpeg articles. I have tried converting the others but no luck as they are still unreadable. I'm not very tech savvy, but any advice will be gratefully received and attempted.
Thanks

You should be able to view all on the Board by simply clicking on them because this Board has an automatic viewer. If you right click save, they should save as jpgs and can be viewed by the Paint program or Photo Viewer program on Windows. If you have a MAC then I definitely can't help because I've never used one of those in my life.

Chapter 16: Wow, I never considered that as an escape route, but there is a spot on Crusher Rd (C) that you get a great view of the whole Hopewell Valley. The theory that the kidnappers stopped to see all of the lights on in the Lindbergh home never made much sense to me. They had planned the crime between 8 and 10 when the baby wasn't disturbed and at ten it would be expected every light would be on. I would presume the family was serching and there was still time to escape. Were there police sirens?

There is one thing I don't quite understand as to the dynamics of the Larry Rue series of articles.
Rue obviously had "inside" connections with police sources in order to come up with the material he wrote. This occurred during a time frame when the police investigation was wide open, before Hauptmann came on the police radar.
Seems as if the police sources who gave Rue his information were compromising their own investigation by making public names of suspects and tipping off these suspects to the fact that they were under scrutiny.
In modern day terms, you would say that some people in law enforcement were LEAKING to Larry Rue.

It was just a totally different dynamic than we see today.

All Larry Rue's articles should be placed in the same category. "Ether Held Hauptmann Kidnap Link" By Larry Rue The New York Daily News December 28, 1934 Page 20 www.newspapers.com/newspage/417847662/
