YES!!! I was beginning to think I might not live long enough to see the book in print. Great cover. Can't wait to dig into Michael's masterpiece of LKC research.

Michael, just out of curiosity, I did a quick Google to see if any sign of your book is popping up yet. Didn't find anything, but I did find this, a 1936 newspaper article titled "Many Dark Corners Still Left In Intricate Lindbergh Enigma": linkJust have to ask -- did you draw any title inspiration from that? Neat little coincidence, anyway, if not. I think your title is great, by the way. And of course, I'm another who has already ordered!

Thanks to everyone. I have to admit this process was way outside of my comfort zone, and I could have kept it going back and forth to the Publisher forever. This book was written for the mere fact to put together the unknown material and get it out there. Hopefully everyone finds those facts as important as I do. There's a couple of really good pictures too, and the sketches of the outside of the house, if they turn out as they did in the .pdf, should really highlight that scenario. Each time I read through the proofs, I could still see my tendency to come across awkwardly at times - I think that glitch is in my DNA. If there's a question about something I will clear it up here. Also, if there's something you don't like or disagree with then by all means bring it up.

Didn't find anything, but I did find this, a 1936 newspaper article titled "Many Dark Corners Still Left In Intricate Lindbergh Enigma": I can honestly say I never saw that newspaper article before. I indirectly came up with the name about 6 years ago. I was sitting with a good friend pitching my ideas for titles and he kept telling me how awful they were. He asked me what I wanted the title to describe, and I said "something that shines a light on the dark corners of the case." And he replied "there's your title." Pretty crazy. Something so simple that I thought about for months were all shot down and a new title emerged in a matter of seconds.

Woke up today, on DC-Day+1 (Dark Corners Day, plus one) and immediately ordered my copy. I have the feeling that nothing's the same for us LKC buffs after today. Congrats, Michael.

Congratulations Michael! Question before I walk up to my bookstore, can I order it through my local store or is it only available through your link? I like to support them when I can. Also Feathers, do you want me to mail you a copy? Can't wait to read it!

Also Feathers, do you want me to mail you a copy? Can't wait to read it! stella7, just kind of "jumping off" your post and question, because it reminded me that my daughter, who works at a public library, told me to remember that I could request that a library order the book. (She heard me talking about how excited I was that it was out.) Of course, I planned to order it (and have ordered it), but her reminder was a good one. As my daughter said, there is no guarantee that a requested book will be ordered, but you CAN request that an order be considered at any public library. I know most of us here will be purchasing the book, but I think that some of us -- especially in "high interest" areas, such as New Jersey -- might consider requesting their libraries to order, anyhow. (And probably a good idea to include the link Michael posted with any request.) I just think this would be one good way to support Michael's endeavors and say "thanks" for all he has done here.

Also Feathers, do you want me to mail you a copy? Can't wait to read it! Thanks Stella - that is very kind of you! I actually ended up just calling the phone number for the company and ordering a copy over the phone so I am all set, but I really appreciate the offer!
Actually I ordered two copies, so I could donate or give the second copy to whomever I figure would be most interested.
Now I'll just sit here and sing "Please Mr. Postman" for the next few weeks....

Also Feathers, do you want me to mail you a copy? Can't wait to read it! Thanks Norma. This whole thing is new to me so please bear with me... While I have the final pdf proof, I still don't have an actual copy of the book myself (I wouldn't be surprise if those ordering actually get theirs before I do!) I never looked into the marketing or sales aspect of this project. My intent was never really to sell books but simply to get the facts I found out there together in one spot. Having said that, while I did read that other bookstores could buy books from Infinity Publishing to sell in their stores, I don't know if that will ever happen. So I think the best way would be to buy directly from them - or perhaps try what Sweetwater suggested about asking your local library to order it. I am very anxious to discuss the facts that are in it with the Board. There's so much material and my "style" might make it hard to absorb everything right away. Plus there's plenty I have which can complement points that I either found later or had but didn't quite know how to properly add in or explain. So even if some here choose not to buy the book I think there will be plenty of opportunity to join the discussion regardless.

Can't wait for all the new revelations! stella7, I poked around a little on the site for Michael's book and found the page linked below, about how stores can order: www.buybooksontheweb.com/forstores.aspxSounds like your store should be able to do so, even for a single copy. Also, I'm reading (on another page) that all of us who've hurriedly ordered can probably expect our books to ship in 10-15 days. Arrggh -- can we stand the wait? Michael, I sure hope at least you have a copy SOON! You deserve to hold that book in your hands.

I guess I should have noted Volume 1. I'm sure there are already throngs out there awaiting Volume 2, but I heard the best one is Volume 26.

I guess I should have noted Volume 1. I'm sure there are already throngs out there awaiting Volume 2, but I heard the best one is Volume 26. I have enough new material for 3 volumes total. I am obviously not a Professional Writer so whether or not I continue depends upon how this book is received. The other thing was the whole process. Since this is the only time I've ever done something like this I have nothing to compare it to. I am one of those guys who reads the instructions to everything before I start so I did that. But I had believed the Publisher would make sure I did certain basic things the right way or throw me advice here or there. Not how it worked. I was on my own and it was compounded by having to fix the Publisher's mistakes as well. And just about anything that could go wrong did - that's why it took so long. Congratulations on getting "The Dark Corners of the Lindbergh Kidnapping" written and published, Michael! That is a big and nice deal. Thank you. Looking forward to the feedback and discussions that comes from it.

Has anyone who placed an order, received information on a shipping/delivery date? I order the book the day Michael posted it's availability. I did receive a confirmation with an order date of 8/17. Most on line orders companies provide estimated shipping info/tracking info. Perhaps they are bundling orders and bulk shipping ever week or so?

When I spoke to the lady on the phone, the day after Michael posted, she said that I would get my copy (in Canada) in about a month. I am hoping that it won't take that long.

All I have received is an order confirmation email. No estimated shipping or delivery date is mentioned. It could have something to do with order amounts and scheduling the book printing in the plant. I hope we all hear something soon.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the Infinity Publishing web site states that, generally, orders will ship 10-15 days after the order date. Maybe that's when we might expect a shipping confirmation.

I was told "about a month" about my hard copy. Since I am new at this type of thing I have no idea what's normal and what isn't.

MICHAEL MELSKY SHINES BRIGHT LIGHTS IN DARK CORNERS
Infinity Publishing’s Marketing Department graciously emailed me a review PDF copy of The Dark Corners and while I plan to do an in-depth book review, here is the Reader’s Digest condensed version for now …
The Dark Corners may well be the best book written on the Lindbergh kidnapping case.
An incredibly informative, exciting, and engrossing read, TDC is extraordinarily well researched (15 years worth!), meticulously and exceptionally well-told, and (for a non-fiction book), it’s a real page turner.
Melsky has wisely chosen not to re-hash the story in a linear fashion; George Waller and Lloyd Gardner (among others) have already walked that ground (along with Mark Falzini’s excellent character studies). What Melsky does is delve headfirst into many of the more interesting puzzle pieces, challenging the reader to reevaluate the case and then draw their own conclusions and solutions.
These individual puzzle pieces are reflected in their chapter titles:
1. Strange Vehicles
2. NYU Dinner
3. Hurley
4. The Warped Shutters
5. Customary
6. Strange Noises the Lindberghs Heard (And Did Not Hear)
7. A Tale of Two Dogs
8. Murray Garsson (“G” Man)
9. The Whateleys
10. The Nursemaids
11. Betty Morrow
12. The Crime Scene
13. The Layout
14. The Next Phase
15. In the Shadow of Death
16. Lt. “Buster” Keaten
Among the many gems -- we may never view shy, demure, innocent Betty Gow in the same light again. She chomps chewing gum in the morgue while identifying Charlie’s body. And don’t get me started on the meat skewer!
The pièce de résistance has to be Melsky’s discovery and confirmation of an actual “deathbed confession.” Simply an amazing find.
“Buster” Keaten’s wrap-up chapter is equally illuminating, a perfect ending to Volume 1 making us want to pick up Volume 2 immediately.
With 1,033 footnotes supporting practically every chapter (if not sentence), no one can fault Melsky for not doing his research and sharing it all with us.
Two words to finish. The Dark Corners is compulsively readable. It brings to light endless bright corners for further thought, reevaluation, and discussion.
Can’t wait for Volumes 2 and 3.
Kudos! Great work!

Thanks for sharing your review with us Wayne! Michael's book will be the best book ever on this case. I can hardly wait for my copy to arrive. Everything in my world will come to a screeching halt when that book arrives. I will read it from cover to cover and be amazed by all of Michael's extensive research. I will be looking forward to Volumes 2 and 3 also.
