I have so much respect, and appreciation, Michael, for what I think you are trying to do. As far as I'm concerned, pretty much everyone with a more than passing interest in the LKC should feel that way (but, yeah, I know all may not).
When I first started reading regularly here (a bit before I actually joined) and caught on that you had a book (or two or three) in the offing, I tried to put myself mentally in your place and think, hmmm, now if I had a bunch of NEW info on the case, how would I present it? One thing I pondered was how to tell "that well-known story" again, with a bit of freshness. I guess it never crossed my mind that it might not be necessary to "retell" the very basics. I can see now how it might not be...but, I admit, I am curious to learn just how you ARE going to present your stuff. As I and others have said before: Can hardly wait!
What I would like to see happen for you (if you would like it) is for your first volume to be so important, in the information it brings forward, that a publisher would come calling and sign you on for a project of re-publishing the first installment with your additional material ("book 2 and 3") bundled on! You could even bring in a co-writer if you wanted, since you're always saying you're "not a writer" -- but, of course, as I have told you before, I think you are a plenty good writer for your project; I believe you sell yourself short there.
Sure wishing you the best with it all.
